On June 2, one day before the 21st presidential election, Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to be mostly cloudy with rain falling in some areas.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, the region is expected to be affected by a low-pressure system moving eastward from near Shanghai, China, until the morning of this day. The morning low temperatures are forecasted to range from 15 to 18 degrees Celsius, while the afternoon highs are expected to be between 19 and 24 degrees Celsius.
Rain is expected to begin along the Jeonnam coast in the morning and expand to Gwangju and inland Jeonnam in the afternoon. The expected precipitation is 5 to 20 millimeters in Gwangju and Jeonnam, and up to 30 millimeters along the southern coast of Jeonnam.
By region, the morning low temperatures are forecasted as follows: 15 degrees in Boseong and Goheung; 16 degrees in Jangseong, Gokseong, Naju, Hwasun, Yeonggwang, Hampyeong, Muan, Yeongam, Jangheung, Gangjin, Haenam, Jindo, and Wando; 17 degrees in Damyang, Shinan, Mokpo, Suncheon, Gurye, Gwangyang, and Yeosu; and 18 degrees in Gwangju.
The afternoon high temperatures are expected to reach 24 degrees in Damyang; 23 degrees in Gwangju and Jangseong; 22 degrees in Yeonggwang, Gokseong, Gurye, and Gangjin; 21 degrees in Hampyeong, Shinan, Naju, Hwasun, Gwangyang, Haenam, and Mokpo; 20 degrees in Muan, Jindo, Goheung, Yeosu, and Yeongam; and 19 degrees in Boseong, Suncheon, and Wando.
Waves on the sea are expected to reach up to 1 meter high in both the West Sea and the South Sea coastal waters, and the concentration of ultrafine dust is forecasted to remain at a 'moderate' level.
An official from the Meteorological Administration stated, "In areas where it rains, visibility will be reduced and some roads may become slippery," and advised, "Please pay close attention to traffic safety, including maintaining a sufficient safe distance and reducing speed when driving."
