HMM Conducts Beach Cleanup in Celebration of Maritime Day

HMM announced on June 1 that it had conducted a beach cleanup activity at Geojampo Beach in celebration of Maritime Day.

On May 30, HMM employees, members of the Coast Guard, and other stakeholders collected marine waste such as discarded plastics and fishing debris at Geojampo Beach in Yeongjongdo, Incheon. They also worked to maintain the surrounding green spaces as part of their efforts to protect the marine environment.

An HMM employee who participated in the cleanup activity stated, "We are carrying out social contribution activities in three directions: environment, social contribution to the local community, and global activities," adding, "This event is an activity to protect the ocean, which is the main stage for the shipping industry."

Since 2023, HMM has adopted Geojampo Beach and has conducted cleanup activities there at least twice a year.

HMM is undertaking various initiatives to protect the marine environment. The company established a circular system that recycles waste ropes generated on ships into nylon raw materials, becoming the first Korean shipping company to do so. HMM is also actively participating in the "Incheon Port Resource Circulation Economy Project," which recycles waste PET bottles generated on ships.
