Shinhan Financial Group announced on June 1 that Chairman Yoon visited Hong Kong and Singapore from May 27 to 29 and held IR meetings with local institutional investors.
The purpose of this IR was to explain the composition and future plans of Shinhan Financial Group's board, as well as to listen to the main concerns of investors and reflect them in board operations.
Chairman Yoon met with investors to discuss the domestic and global economic environment and major risk factors. He also shared the board's efforts to enhance diversity and improve corporate governance. In addition, he introduced the group's ongoing 'value-up' initiatives, such as implementing and monitoring plans to enhance corporate value through voluntary disclosure last month, and emphasized the importance of consistent execution.
In Hong Kong, Chairman Yoon met with members of the Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA) to share case studies on improving corporate governance in different countries. They also exchanged views on the role of boards in building corporate trust and promoting sustainable management. ACGA is a non-profit association established to improve corporate governance in Asia, protect investors, and enhance market trust. Currently, more than 100 investment institutions worldwide are members.
Previously, in November last year, Shinhan Financial Group attended the ACGA annual event in Singapore and explained that its "plan to enhance corporate value will help guide investments toward long-term, sustainable stock market investments, rather than short-term, real estate-focused investments," adding that "this will also have a positive impact on improving corporate trust."
Chairman Yoon stated, "The responsibilities and roles of the board are becoming increasingly important. In particular, the board's efforts to advance corporate governance will serve as the foundation for improving management efficiency and transparency at Shinhan Financial Group, ultimately enhancing corporate value. Shinhan Financial Group will continue to contribute to building trust in the capital market by operating its board in line with global standards."
