Accident Occurs in Waters Near Sogyeongdo
Eight people were injured when a fishing charter boat and a fishing vessel collided in the waters near Yeosu, South Jeolla Province.
According to the Yeosu Coast Guard, at approximately 5:19 p.m. on May 31, a fishing charter boat, Vessel A (9.77 tons, registered in Yeosu, 22 people on board), and a fishing vessel, Vessel B (3.83 tons, registered in Yeosu, 2 people on board), collided about 3 kilometers southwest of Sogyeongdo, Yeosu.

As a result of the accident, eight people on board sustained minor injuries, and Vessel B suffered flooding due to a hole that was punctured in its engine room. The coast guard dispatched a rescue team and patrol vessels to carry out rescue and dewatering operations, and no secondary damage occurred.
The coast guard is currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident. A representative from the Yeosu Coast Guard stated, "During periods of heavy marine traffic, it is essential to strictly observe navigation safety rules, such as keeping a lookout ahead and maintaining communication."
