Parking Complaints Remain the Most Common Issue for Apartment Residents Since Last Year
A recent survey has found that the issue causing the greatest inconvenience for apartment residents is related to parking.
Apartmenti, an apartment living support platform, released on the 30th an analysis of approximately 100,000 complaints registered on the Apartmenti mobile application (app) over the past year since April of last year.
The analysis showed that parking-related complaints accounted for 33% of the total, representing the largest share. This was also the most common complaint item in the previous year, and the proportion increased by 4 percentage points compared to last year. A closer look at the parking-related complaints revealed issues such as lack of parking spaces, double parking, and parking by external vehicles.
Apartmenti explained the high number of parking-related complaints by stating, "Residents are more proactive in submitting complaints because there is a strong perception that institutional improvements are possible in terms of management, such as allocation of space within the complex, control of external vehicles, and establishment of rules among residents."
The second most common complaint was noise, accounting for 20%, which is a 10 percentage point increase from the previous survey. This was followed by smoking (19%) and elevators (12%).
Major issues in noise-related complaints included inter-floor noise, noise through walls, and noise from interior renovations or construction.
For smoking complaints, the proportion surged by 15 percentage points compared to the previous year, with more than half related to indoor smoking. Other complaints included dissatisfaction with secondhand smoke and cigarette butt littering in common areas such as hallways and stairways.
A representative from Apartmenti stated, "Complaints regarding parking, noise, and smoking have all increased compared to the previous year," adding, "These issues are escalating beyond simple inconvenience to conflicts among residents." The representative further commented, "We are closely monitoring resident complaints to contribute to the convenience of apartment living and plan to actively reflect related feedback in our service development."
