Damyang County Holds Agricultural Specialties Direct Market at Jogyesa Temple in Seoul

Eco-Friendly Agricultural Products and Traditional Foods Gain Popularity

Damyang County in South Jeolla Province, led by County Governor Jeong Cheolwon, announced on May 31 that it operated the "Damyang County Agricultural Specialties Direct Market" for three days from May 27 to 29 at Jogyesa Temple grounds in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

This direct market event, now in its third year, is a collaborative effort between Damyang County and Jogyesa Temple. The event aims to introduce consumers to fresh and high-quality agricultural products from Damyang by delivering them directly from the production site, bypassing intermediate distribution channels.

Five outstanding farms and producers from the Damyang region participated in this event, offering a wide range of products such as salted seafood, mushrooms, fermented sauces, rice syrup, and seaweed. In particular, eco-friendly agricultural products and traditional foods, grown and processed in Damyang's pristine natural environment, proved especially popular among Seoul residents.

A county official stated, "Through ongoing direct market events, we aim to promote the excellence of Damyang's agricultural specialties to urban consumers and provide stable sales channels for local farms. We will continue to work on increasing farm income through various channels in the future."

Meanwhile, Damyang County is drawing attention as a model for urban-rural coexistence by holding direct markets each year in partnership with major temples, public institutions, and large urban consumer markets.
