Since the start of the 8th popularly elected administration, Gwangjin-gu has focused on expanding public parking lots. The number of off-street public parking spaces increased from 1,674 in 2022 to 2,424 this year, an increase of 832 spaces, or 47%, over three years. In June last year, 81 spaces were completed at the Guui2dong Complex Government Building, 94 spaces at Baenamuteo Park in Junggok3dong in October, and 164 spaces at the Jayang4dong 50 Plus Eastern Campus in February this year.

In addition, temporary parking lots have been created on idle sites such as the Hwayang Substation site in Junggok-dong (180 spaces), the Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic site (118 spaces), and the Hwayang Elementary School site (25 spaces) to reduce inconvenience for residents. The expansion of shared parking lots around residential areas is also ongoing. Various projects are underway, including the Ginkoranggil Multi-level Project (90 spaces) and the Junggok-dong Public Parking Lot Complex Development (288 spaces).

Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, "Parking complaints account for the largest share of civil complaints," and added, "We will do our best to alleviate parking shortages and improve resident convenience by maximizing the expansion of public parking lots, which are essential community infrastructure."
