On May 30, Honam University announced that "Coloring," a volunteer club from the Department of Cartoon Animation, recently participated in the May "Takeoff Day" event held at Gwangju Airport, where they provided caricature and calligraphy volunteer services.

"Coloring" is a talent-based volunteer club composed of students from the Department of Cartoon Animation. The club engages in activities that connect their major skills?such as drawing, image expression, and character design?learned in class with the local community.

This airport event was also part of their ongoing efforts to connect with the local community, providing an opportunity for direct interaction with visitors through art-based communication.

The students drew simple caricatures of visitors at the airport. Creating caricatures, which requires the ability to express a person's features concisely, as well as skills in character creation and observation, allowed the students to apply what they have learned in class to real-life situations.

Additionally, the students offered calligraphy postcard services, writing short phrases or names by hand to deliver warm messages to the visitors. They paid special attention to sentence composition and visual expression during their participation.

Professor Kim Seoyoung, who advises the club, stated, "As students share their talents through volunteer work, they gain experiences that connect them to society and help them understand the social value of their major. We plan to continue providing students with a variety of opportunities to gain practical experience in the future."
