Utilizing Hidden Exercise Spots in Our Neighborhood
The Dongbu Health Living Support Center of Jinhae Public Health Center in Changwon Special City, South Gyeongsang Province, held a Nordic walking program on May 30 at Mugunghwa Park in Angol-dong, with the participation of around 20 local health leaders and residents.
This event was organized as part of the "How to Use Hidden Local Exercise Spots" project promoted by the Dongbu Health Living Support Center. The project aims to actively discover hidden attractions in the community and to spread a culture of healthy living through practical exercise programs that promote residents' health.
Nordic walking is a form of walking exercise that uses two specialized poles to engage all major muscle groups. It is especially popular among middle-aged and older adults because it provides effective aerobic exercise without putting strain on the joints.
The program was conducted under the guidance of a professional instructor. After learning the correct posture and techniques, participants walked together along the beautiful scenery of Mugunghwa Park, enjoying both health benefits and opportunities for social interaction.
One resident who attended said, "I realized for the first time that the park I usually pass by without much thought is actually a great place to exercise. I want to use it more often from now on."
Shim Yangsuk, the head of the center, stated, "We will continue to discover hidden exercise spots throughout the eastern part of Jinhae and operate health programs in which residents can participate together, supporting a healthy life for our citizens."
