The Gwangju Community Chest of Korea announced on the 30th that Sebang Group Co., Ltd. has been recognized for its contribution to the local community and has joined as a 'Sharing Excellence Company.'

The induction ceremony was held on May 29 at the Sebang Group headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and was attended by Park Jeonghee, CEO of Sebang Battery, Park Heungcheol, Secretary General of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, as well as executives and employees from both organizations.

Sebang Group was officially inducted this time in recognition of its contribution of 500 million won this year to Gwangju City through the Community Chest of Korea. The donation will be used for various welfare distribution projects in Gwangju, including improving sports and welfare for the elderly and supporting holiday and heating expenses for low-income households.

Since the 1980s, Sebang Group has been operating a lead-acid battery plant under Sebang Battery in the Hanam Industrial Complex, producing the nation's top automotive battery brand, Rocket Battery.

In addition, in 2021, its affiliate Sebang Lithium Battery invested about 120 billion won to complete and operate a manufacturing plant for electric vehicle lithium battery modules and packs in the Pyeongdong Industrial Complex, contributing to job creation and economic revitalization in the region.

Furthermore, through the Sebang Lee Euisun Foundation, a social welfare corporation, the group continues to engage in various social contribution activities. Major initiatives include the 'Hope Switch ON' project to improve facilities at local children's centers, a vehicle support project for welfare facilities, and a coal briquette support project during the winter season.

Park Jeonghee, CEO of Sebang Battery, stated, "Sebang Group is a company with a long-standing connection to Gwangju, and we will continue to grow together with the region through sustainable sharing."
