According to the city on May 30, this event marks the first significant stage in Namwon, the birthplace of Gugak, to celebrate the '1st Gugak Day,' a legal commemorative day established for the preservation and promotion of Gugak, which is held every year on June 5.

On the 5th of next month at 7:30 p.m., the Namwon Municipal Gugak Orchestra will present a traditional folk music performance titled 'Yeominrak' at the special stage of Yeongjugak in Gwanghallu Garden. The event will begin with lively performances such as the instrumental ensemble 'Namdo Gutgeori,' the festive dance 'Yegimu' performed on celebratory days, and the vibrant labor song 'Nongbuga.' In addition, Lim Hyunbin, the master singer who serves as the orchestra director, will sing the most dramatic part of Simcheongga, 'The Scene Where Simbongsa Regains His Sight.'

The program will continue with 'Wolhayaheung,' an instrumental ensemble that improvises various melodies of folk music, followed by 'Hallyangmu,' a representative male dance. The event will conclude with Namdo folk songs 'Seongjupuri,' 'Namwon Sanseong,' and 'Jindo Arirang,' which the audience can sing along to.

On the 7th of next month at 4:00 p.m., a Gugak performance by Namwon's master musicians and singers will be held at the Journey of Master Singer Ahn Sooksun. The lineup includes: the opening Seoljanggo performance by Tanol Team (Yoo Songil and three others); pansori (the scene of Zhuge Liang shooting arrows in Jeokbyeokga) by Yoon Jincheol; dance (Sorinoreum, Janggu Dance, Buk Dance) by Moon Changsook and Baek Hyeongmin; gayageum byeongchang (the scene of Hwangseong in Simcheongga) by Kang Jeongyeol; pansori (the scene of Heungbo breaking the gourd in Heungboga) by Lee Nancho; Namdo Sinawi music performed by geomungo player Kim Mugil, ajaeng player Seo Youngho, gayageum player Jo Oksun, daegeum player Lee Ungyeol; and jangdan (traditional rhythm) by Park Siyang. All performers are master musicians and singers from Namwon.

Through this performance, the city aims to provide citizens with the opportunity to enjoy high-quality Gugak performances, reaffirm Namwon's identity as a Gugak city, and further expand the foundation for the popularization of Gugak. In addition, by linking the event with local tourism resources such as Gwanghallu Garden, the city expects to contribute to revitalizing the local economy by creating integrated content that combines culture and tourism.

Mayor Choi Kyungsik said, "With the commemorative performance for the designation of the 1st Gugak Day, we will further solidify Namwon's status as a city of Gugak. We will continue to develop this into an annual event and establish Namwon as a central city for Gugak culture."
