As of 1:00 p.m. on May 30, the last day of early voting for the 21st presidential election, the nationwide average early voting rate stood at 27.17%.


According to the National Election Commission, as of 1:00 p.m. on this day, 12,063,051 out of 44,391,871 eligible voters nationwide had participated in early voting.

The nationwide average early voting rate is 27.17%. This figure is 0.28 percentage points higher than the rate at the same time during the 20th presidential election (26.89%), reflecting heightened public interest.


So far, Jeonnam has recorded the highest early voting rate at 46.52%. Jeonbuk (43.50%) and Gwangju (42.39%) follow, with the Honam region showing overwhelmingly high participation. In particular, the Honam region has seen its early voting rate rise by more than 6 percentage points compared to the 20th presidential election, setting a record-high turnout.


In the Seoul metropolitan area, Seoul (26.64%) and Gyeonggi (25.58%) are close to the national average, while Incheon (25.62%) is slightly below the average. Gyeonggi's early voting rate has increased by 1.57 percentage points compared to the 20th presidential election.


The region with the lowest early voting rate is Daegu at 19.38%. Busan (23.62%), Gyeongbuk (24.17%), and Gyeongnam (24.33%) also show rates below the national average, indicating that the Yeongnam region overall is recording lower participation. The Yeongnam region has generally seen a decline in early voting rates compared to the 20th presidential election, providing a sharp contrast.


Sejong (31.38%), Gangwon (28.83%), and Jeju (27.72%) have all recorded participation rates above the national average.


Early voting, which began on May 29, is being held over two days, concluding today. Voting hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. To participate in early voting, voters must bring a valid ID and visit an early voting station.
