On May 29, Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province signed a business agreement with the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute at City Hall for the "Activation and Infrastructure Building of the Medical Device Industry in the Changwon Region."

This day, which marks the national commemorative "Medical Device Day," served as an opportunity for Changwon Special City and the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute to reaffirm their mutual trust and commitment to the development of the local medical device industry.

This agreement was promoted to strengthen the competitiveness and foster the industrial ecosystem of the medical device industry, which Changwon City is nurturing as a future strategic industry. In particular, by establishing a dedicated support organization for the medical device industry within the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, the foundation has been laid to provide practical technological support to local companies.

Under the agreement, the two institutions plan to jointly pursue: ▲ the establishment and operation of a medical device industry support organization within the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute ▲ comprehensive support for local medical device companies, including technology development, testing and certification, and technical consulting ▲ joint discovery and planning of national and public project proposals ▲ and the development of policies and institutional frameworks to foster the medical device industry.

Through these initiatives, a systematic and sustainable foundation for technological support for local medical device companies will be established, and Changwon City is expected to accelerate the development of new industries centered on the medical device sector.

Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "This business agreement is a very meaningful starting point for Changwon to become a city centered on the medical device industry," adding, "The establishment of a dedicated organization within the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute will serve as an important milestone in creating a field-oriented support system that local companies can tangibly benefit from."

He further emphasized, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with research institutions to develop the medical device industry into Changwon's representative future industry."
