A man in his 30s was apprehended by police after breaking into the election commission office in Hadong, Gyeongnam, claiming suspicions of election fraud.
The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 30th that they had arrested Mr. A, a man in his 30s, in the act.
According to police, Mr. A is suspected of breaking into the Hadong County Election Commission office at approximately 9:39 p.m. on May 29, the first day of early voting for the 21st presidential election.
He reportedly climbed a pipe at the back of the election commission building to reach the second-floor balcony and then opened the commission's door.
Although the door was not locked, an entry alarm sounded, prompting a private security company and police to respond, and Mr. A was apprehended at the scene.
During police questioning, Mr. A stated that he committed the act because he suspected election fraud in the current presidential election.
The police plan to investigate Mr. A further to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
