Funeral for Fallen Service Members
to Be Held with Navy Honors
The Navy announced on May 30 that it will hold a Navy funeral for the service members who died in the line of duty during a maritime patrol aircraft (P-3CK) training flight that crashed in the area of Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province.
Accordingly, the Navy will operate a joint memorial altar at the gymnasium of the Naval Air Command in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, starting at 1:00 p.m. on the same day.
On June 1 at 8:00 a.m., a memorial ceremony will be held at the auditorium of the Naval Air Command, followed by an enshrinement ceremony at the Daejeon National Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. on the same day.
Meanwhile, on the previous day, at around 1:49 p.m., a Navy P-3CK anti-submarine patrol aircraft crashed into a mountain in Pohang while conducting takeoff and landing training in the area of Pohang Gyeongju Airport. All four people on board, including the pilot, died in the accident.
