Day 2 Early Voting Rate at 8 a.m. Reaches 21.19%... Up 2.08 Percentage Points from Previous Presidential Election

Over 9.4 Million Voters Participate in Two Days

As of 8:00 a.m. on May 30, the final day of early voting for the 21st presidential election, the nationwide average early voting rate stood at 21.19%. This is the highest figure ever recorded for early voting at this time of day.


On this day, the National Election Commission announced that, as of 8:00 a.m., 9,405,982 out of 44,391,871 eligible voters nationwide had participated in early voting.


The national average early voting rate is 21.19%. Since the early voting system was first introduced for nationwide elections in the June 4, 2014 local elections, this is the highest rate recorded at this time of day for any nationwide election, excluding by-elections and re-elections. At the same time during the previous presidential election, the early voting rate was 19.11%.

So far, the region with the highest early voting rate is Jeonnam (37.56%), followed by Jeonbuk (35.13%) and Gwangju (34.33%). Both Seoul (20.74%) and Gyeonggi (24.29%) have surpassed 20%. The region with the lowest rate is Daegu (14.50%).


Early voting, which began on May 29, is being held over two days, concluding today. Voting hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. To participate in early voting, voters must bring identification and visit an early voting station.
