Gwangju Urban Corporation Expands Cremation Furnace Operations at Yeongnak Park During Intercalary Month

Minimizing Citizen Inconvenience by Increasing Cremation Capacity

Gwangju Urban Corporation (President Kim Seungnam) announced on May 29 that it will expand the operation of cremation furnaces for relocated remains during the intercalary month period from July 25 to August 22 to accommodate increased cremation demand.

Gwangju Yeongnak Park plans to increase the number of daily cremations from 10 to 12 during the intercalary month and expand the number of cremation slots for relocated remains from 11 to 38, adding 27 more slots, to support citizens in carrying out funeral procedures smoothly.

Cremation reservations can be made through the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 'e-Haneul Funeral Information System' starting at midnight on the first day of each month for the following month. Accordingly, reservations for July and August, which fall within the intercalary month period, will be available starting June 1 and July 1, respectively.

Kim Seungnam, President of Gwangju Urban Corporation, stated, "We will thoroughly prepare to ensure that citizens using funeral facilities during the intercalary month can access services without inconvenience," adding, "As a public institution, we will operate with a strong sense of responsibility and ensure seamless operations."
