Pyeongtaek City Successfully Holds Export Consultation for SMEs in Three Eastern European Countries

Seeking New Markets in Austria, Hungary, and Bulgaria
Eight Companies Participate in One-on-One Consultations with Over 120 Local Buyers

Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 29th that it had successfully held the "Eastern Europe Overseas Market Development Export Consultation," which was promoted as part of a strategy to diversify export destinations for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in response to U.S. tariff policies and to pioneer overseas markets.

The consultation sessions were held in Vienna, Austria, on the 26th (local time), and in Budapest, Hungary, on the 28th, with the final session scheduled for Sofia, Bulgaria, on the 30th.


The city explained that eight companies from Pyeongtaek participated in the consultation, which was conducted in a one-on-one matching format with over 120 local buyers.


This large-scale event, hosted by Pyeongtaek City and organized by the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, also drew attention as it was planned to include 25 companies from three cities?Anseong, Jinju in South Gyeongsang Province, and others?in addition to Pyeongtaek, through cooperation with the local partner agency, KOTRA.


The city further added that, in particular, the events in Austria and Hungary achieved tangible results, including the signing of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and sample supply contracts, through a total of 76 consultations.


The city plans to continue providing local market information in cooperation with overseas trade offices and embassies to ensure ongoing results from this consultation. In addition, the city intends to link online export consultations through KOTRA and the Pyeongtaek Digital Trade Support Center (deXter) with its business support programs for local companies.


Jung Jangsun, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, stated, "This export consultation is significant not only for its short-term export achievements but also for laying the foundation for a mid- to long-term market diversification strategy. We will continue to promote various projects to support the export activities of our companies in the future."
