US Women's Open Champion Nayeon Choi Throws Ceremonial First Pitch at MLB Game

Ceremonial First Pitch at Milwaukee-Boston Game on USGA's Recommendation
Promoting the U.S. Women's Open as the 2012 Champion

Nayeon Choi threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Major League Baseball (MLB) game in the United States.

On May 28 (local time), she appeared as the ceremonial first pitcher before the start of the game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Boston Red Sox at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was invited to throw the first pitch on the recommendation of the United States Golf Association (USGA) to promote the 80th U.S. Women's Open, which kicked off that day at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin.

Wearing a Milwaukee jersey and looking somewhat nervous on the mound, Nayeon Choi delivered a precise pitch to home plate, signaling the start of the game. Afterwards, she wrote on Instagram, "Thank you to the U.S. Women's Open and the Milwaukee team for inviting me and giving me this wonderful opportunity. It was an honorable moment. I was very excited and nervous," adding, "It was a great game. Congratulations to Milwaukee on their victory."

Nayeon Choi won the 67th edition of the tournament in July 2012 at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisconsin, near Milwaukee. Blackwolf Run is also where Se Ri Pak famously won the U.S. Women's Open in 1998 with her 'barefoot fighting spirit.' In the game that day, Milwaukee won 6-5 in extra innings.
