Targeting 3,845 Households
Addressing Welfare Blind Spots

Gochang County in North Jeolla Province will conduct a comprehensive survey from June 2 to 23, targeting 3,845 households that are recipients of basic livelihood benefits or whose benefits have been suspended.

According to the county on May 29, this survey has been organized to respond to households at risk of welfare crises. Dedicated social welfare officials and comprehensive administrative staff from each town and township will visit the households in person to check on their living conditions and any recent changes.

After consulting on necessary services, the county plans to assist with applications for appropriate public benefits and provide customized services by connecting households with private resources. In addition, 154 senior care support workers and 79 welfare monitors will participate to carry out ongoing promotional activities about the Basic Livelihood Security System.

For current benefit recipients, the county will clearly explain eligibility requirements such as income, support obligors, and vehicle ownership standards, in order to prevent benefit suspensions in advance and minimize the occurrence of welfare blind spots.

Oh Sumok, head of the county’s Social Welfare Division, said, “We expect that by identifying households at risk early and connecting them with the customized services they truly need, this initiative will provide practical help in addressing welfare blind spots.” He added, “We will continue to visit households to listen closely to recipients’ voices and better understand their diverse needs, so we can deliver even more comprehensive welfare services.”
