Hyosung Heavy Industries to Lead Creation of Seoul's "Hydrogen Economy Ecosystem"

Signed MOU with Seoul Energy Corporation
Joint Promotion of Liquefied Hydrogen Charging Station Construction and More

Hyosung Heavy Industries is joining forces with Seoul Energy Corporation to actively promote the creation of a hydrogen economy ecosystem within Seoul. The company plans to focus on building infrastructure such as liquefied hydrogen charging stations.

On May 29, Hyosung Heavy Industries announced that it had signed a "Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Creation of a Hydrogen Economy Ecosystem" with Seoul Energy Corporation at its headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the previous day, May 28. Through this agreement, the two parties will jointly pursue the following initiatives: construction of liquefied hydrogen charging stations and development of safety standards; cooperation in the localization and demonstration of hydrogen charging equipment; and the identification and development of joint projects for clean hydrogen power generation.

Hyosung Heavy Industries is conducting business across the entire hydrogen infrastructure sector, from building hydrogen charging stations and localizing equipment to supplying liquefied hydrogen. Since 2008, the company has accumulated hydrogen charging technology and currently holds the number one market share in the domestic hydrogen charging system market. In 2021, Hyosung Heavy Industries expanded its value chain by establishing two joint ventures, "Linde Hydrogen Energy" and "Hyosung Hydrogen," for the production and sale of liquefied hydrogen in partnership with German industrial gas company Linde.

Hyosung Hydrogen began by completing a liquefied hydrogen charging station in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do in October last year, and plans to build a total of 21 charging stations nationwide.

Woo Taehee, CEO of Hyosung Heavy Industries, stated, "Based on nearly 20 years of experience in the hydrogen charging business and our partnership with Seoul Energy Corporation, we will contribute to making Seoul a leading city in hydrogen mobility."
