Gyeonggi Institute of Health and Environment to Inspect Residual Pesticides at Park Golf Courses in Six Areas of the Province

Gyeonggi Province will conduct residual pesticide inspections at park golf courses.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Institute of Health and Environment announced on May 29 that it will carry out a survey on residual pesticides at eight park golf courses in the province over a three-month period from next month through September.

Park golf courses are popular among the elderly due to their low usage fees and excellent accessibility. However, unlike regular golf courses, there are no legal standards regarding the use of pesticides, leading to ongoing concerns that they remain in a blind spot when it comes to safety management.

In response, the Gyeonggi Provincial Institute of Health and Environment has decided to investigate the presence of 25 types of residual pesticides, including 13 types of fungicides, at eight park golf courses located in six cities and counties: Siheung, Yangpyeong, Icheon, Yangju, Uijeongbu, and Pocheon.

The results of the survey will be shared with relevant agencies and used as basic data for establishing environmental management policies for park golf courses.

Hong Soonmo, head of the Department of Environmental Living Research at the Gyeonggi Provincial Institute of Health and Environment, stated, "We plan to check the environmental safety of park golf courses so that residents can use them with peace of mind," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our proactive response system for all types of public sports facilities in the future."
