Early Voter Turnout Reaches 2.24% as of 8 a.m.

Kwon stated, "As the climate crisis brings about industrial and employment crises, I have reflected my awareness and goals regarding the climate crisis and jobs in my vote, especially considering that the Yeosu Industrial Complex was designated as a preemptive response area for industrial crisis on the 1st."
Kwon was selected as the candidate by the Social Transformation Presidential Election Solidarity Council, which is composed of the Justice Party, Labor Party, Green Party, and civil society organizations. Kwon is a former dismissed worker from Poongsan Metal and, after passing the bar exam in 1999, has been active in labor fields, including serving as a legal representative for the Ssangyong Motor mass layoff case. His main campaign pledges include: electoral system reform; amendments to Articles 2 and 3 of the Trade Union Act; a 1 million won minimum citizen income; and the introduction of a super-wealth tax on the top 0.1%.
As of 8 a.m. that day, the National Election Commission announced that the voter turnout stood at 2.24%. This is 1.04 percentage points higher than the early voting turnout at the same time during the 20th presidential election in 2022 (1.20%), and 0.99 percentage points higher than the same time during the early voting for the 22nd general election last year (1.25%).
Early voting will be held for two days, until the 30th. Voting is open until 6 p.m., and voters must bring identification and visit an early voting station to cast their ballots.
