As of 7:00 a.m. on May 29, the first day of early voting for the 21st presidential election, the nationwide average voter turnout stood at 1.21%. This is the highest early voting rate recorded at this time of day in history.
According to the National Election Commission, as of 7:00 a.m. on this day, 536,315 out of 44,391,871 eligible voters nationwide had participated in the vote.
The nationwide average early voting rate is 1.21%. Since the early voting system was first introduced for nationwide elections during the June 4, 2014 local elections, this is the highest rate recorded at this time of day for any nationwide election, excluding by-elections and re-elections.
Currently, Jeonnam has the highest voter turnout at 2.29%, followed by Jeonbuk at 2.20%, Gwangju at 2.04%, and Sejong at 1.39%. Daegu recorded the lowest turnout at 0.68%.
Early voting will be held for two days, from May 29 to May 30. Voting hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. To participate in early voting, voters must bring a valid ID and visit an early voting station.
