Learn Korean Archery, Horseback Riding, Webtoons, and More... Nowon District Operates "Nowon Lifelong Learning University" with Seven Universities Learning Korean Traditional Archery

Nowon District in Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seungrok) announced that it is operating the "Nowon Lifelong Learning University," which provides high-quality specialized courses to residents in collaboration with seven local universities.

Nowon Lifelong Learning University has been the district's flagship government-academic cooperation project since 2021. By utilizing the excellent facilities and human resources of local universities, it has raised the standard of lifelong education in the area. The university's distinctive programs have also served as a platform for universities to engage with the local community.

The quality of the programs and the satisfaction of participants have both been high. The newly launched Children's Growth Golf Class (Induk University) saw full participation, with every student completing the course. Kwangwoon University, which offered a Webtoon Artist Preparation & Debut course, received enthusiastic feedback from students by providing a state-of-the-art practice classroom equipped with the latest equipment, creating an optimal learning environment.

Certification-oriented courses such as Barista (Kwangwoon University) and Jewelry Making (Induk University) are also popular. According to each university, a total of 232 people obtained certifications through Nowon Lifelong Learning University last year.

This year, all seven local universities (Kwangwoon University, Sahmyook University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Seoul Women's University, Korea Military Academy, Induk University, and Korea Bible University) will participate, offering a total of 108 courses across 47 programs.

New courses introduced this year include 9-Player Volleyball (Sahmyook University) and "Recording My History Through Photography" (Korea Bible University).

In addition, Kwangwoon University will focus on AI robot production, webtoon artist debut, and IT-based senior health rehabilitation; Sahmyook University will offer Aroma Therapist, Healthy Food Vegetarian Cooking Instructor, and Swimming; Seoul National University of Science and Technology will focus on relationship recovery through art therapy, financial technology, and practical AI applications; Seoul Women's University will operate a two-day, one-night residential Free Life School for socially vulnerable groups; Korea Bible University will open courses for people with disabilities and their families; Korea Military Academy will offer Korean traditional archery, horseback riding, and drone classes; and Induk University will continue to offer popular courses such as Children's Growth Golf and Senior Modeling.

For details on schedules, tuition fees, and registration for each course at Nowon Lifelong Learning University, residents can visit the lifelong education center website of each university. However, for courses operated by the Korea Military Academy, applications must be made directly through the Nowon Lifelong Education Portal managed by the district.

District Mayor Oh Seungrok stated, "Nowon Lifelong Learning University is an exemplary government-academic cooperation project that meets residents' educational needs through the specialized capabilities of local universities," and added, "We will continue to communicate and provide support to universities to ensure even more enriching programs."
