Declined All Requests for Name Disclosure and Photo Sessions
"I did not have the opportunity to receive much education myself, but I want to support students so they can continue their studies."
This is what an anonymous woman in her 90s said as she visited Kyung Hee University in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, and made a large donation.

According to Kyung Hee University on May 28, the anonymous woman, who lives near the university, visited the university's Office of External Affairs on the previous day and donated 50 million won in cash. She carefully wrapped bundles of 50,000-won bills in newspaper, carried them in a backpack, and handed them to a staff member herself.
She said, "I hope this will help students in difficult circumstances," and added, "If I had had more time, I would have tried to save up more, but since I am quite old, I am donating the amount I have prepared so far."
It is known that, aside from living in Dongdaemun-gu where Kyung Hee University is located, the woman has no particular connection to the university. Neither she nor her children are alumni of Kyung Hee University. She explained that she chose the university because she believed it was "the place nearby that would use the donation most appropriately." She also stated, "I have already discussed this with my children before visiting the school."
After completing the donation process, she declined to participate in a commemorative photo, as well as any gifts or meals offered to donors, and quietly left the university. It has been reported that she repeatedly requested that her name and other personal details not be made public.
Kyung Hee University announced that, in accordance with the donor's wishes, the donation will be used as a scholarship for students who are continuing their studies in challenging circumstances. A university representative said, "This donation is more than just financial support; it is a heartfelt gesture to expand educational opportunities," adding, "We will honor the donor's wishes and do our best to ensure the funds are delivered to students."
