Jeonnam National University announced on the 28th that it held the "Research Note Competition" to establish a systematic research record culture and provide practical experience in expanding research into intellectual property such as papers or patents.

At the awards ceremony for the 8th Research Note Competition, held on the 23rd in the seminar room on the first floor of the G&R Hub at Jeonnam National University, a total of 14 students, including Park Yebin from the Department of Biochemical Engineering (Grand Prize), received Excellence in Research Note awards.

A research note is an important document that systematically organizes the process and results of experiments and serves as evidence of the accuracy and reliability of research. In particular, it is essential when submitting papers to academic journals or filing for patents. The recorded content is protected under patent law and serves as a legal basis for patent applications in its own right.

To raise awareness of the importance of research notes, Jeonnam National University has been holding the "Research Note Competition" annually since 2017. By sharing exemplary cases of research note writing, the university encourages students to develop systematic record-keeping habits and naturally practice a healthy research culture.

For this competition, Samsung Bioepis Co., Ltd. provided sponsorship of 10 million KRW and, based on its research and development experience, shared guidelines and standards for writing research notes, offering students practical, field-oriented training opportunities.

This year, a total of 226 students from various majors, including Biochemical Engineering, Forest Products Engineering, and the School of Life Science and Technology, participated in the competition. Through the final evaluation in March, 14 awardees were selected.

Bong Kitae, Executive Director of the PD Team at Samsung Bioepis Co., Ltd., stated, "The Research Note Competition is a valuable opportunity for students to learn the research and development know-how of a global bio company at an early stage," and added, "We hope this event will continue to serve as a platform for students to acquire practical skills required in the industry in advance."

Lee Yoonseong, Director of Research at Jeonnam National University, said, "A research note is proof of trust that transparently records every stage of research, from the beginning to the process and results. It is the root of knowledge that leads to papers, patents, and subsequent research," and added, "I hope this competition will inspire students to grow into more diligent and responsible researchers."
