"Lee Junseok's Use of Inappropriate Language Was Wrong... Lee Junseok Has Acknowledged and Apologized"
"How Crude and Filled with Hatred Lee Jaemyung's Language Truly Is"
On May 28, Kim Yongtae, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, criticized the presidential candidate of the Reform Party, Lee Junseok, for his remarks about "women's body parts," calling them "inappropriate."
Through his social media accounts on the same day, Kim stated, "It was wrong for candidate Lee Junseok to use inappropriate language during the televised debate," and added, "Lee Junseok has acknowledged his mistake and apologized for it."
At the same time, Kim Yongtae targeted Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea. He criticized, "It is questionable whether candidate Lee Jaemyung is qualified to criticize Lee Junseok for using language of hatred that is unfit to be spoken."
He continued, "In fact, Lee Jaemyung himself is a prime example of a leading presidential candidate who has engaged in divisive politics through harsh language."
Kim Yongtae added, "His 'harsh language' is abundantly documented on Twitter and Facebook," and said, "If Lee Jaemyung thinks the public is unaware of how crude and filled with hatred his language is, he is gravely mistaken."
On this day, Lee Jaemyung posted on his social media, "The presidential election, which should be about presenting visions, policies, and hope for Korea, is instead being filled with slander, insults, and language of hatred that cannot be spoken." This was interpreted as criticism aimed at Lee Junseok, specifically referencing Lee Junseok's explicit mention of "chopsticks" during the previous day's televised debate.
