In accordance with the "Gijang County Scholarship Fund Establishment and Operation Ordinance," Gijang County recruits scholarship students twice a year, in the first and second halves. Through this first half recruitment, the county aims to foster local talent and expand educational welfare.
University scholarships are awarded in the categories of academic excellence, welfare, multiple children, and special talents, with up to 2 million KRW provided per recipient. For elementary, middle, and high school students, 500,000 KRW per person is awarded only in the special talent category.
Eligibility is limited to those who, as of the announcement date of April 24, have either themselves or their parents continuously registered as residents of Gijang County for at least one year, and who meet the detailed selection criteria for each category. Applications will be accepted until May 30. Document screening will take place in June, followed by a review by the Scholarship Deliberation Committee in July, after which the final scholarship recipients will be selected.
An official from the county stated, "For detailed information regarding the scholarship selection, please search for 'scholarship' in the 'Notices' or 'Announcements' section of the Gijang County website, or contact the Gijang County Education and Youth Division or the relevant Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Center."
