Incheon Metropolitan City will resume its "Vivid City Administration Field Trip" program on June 4, after a temporary suspension in accordance with the Public Official Election Act.
This program, a flagship experiential event of Incheon since the enactment of its ordinance in 2012, has seen the participation of approximately 47,000 citizens. It was launched to enhance understanding of city administration by visiting major project sites and facilities related to culture and the environment.
This year, the program began in March but was paused due to the 60-day legal restriction period prior to the election. The city plans to expand the number of field trip destinations from 40 to 47 across five regions and to operate a Yeonpyeongdo field trip program, thereby offering citizens a broader range of experiences.
In particular, reflecting citizens' high interest in island areas, three new destinations have been added to the Ganghwa region: Hwahae Garden, Gyodong Daeryong-ri Market, and Jeondeungsa Temple. In the Ongjin region, in connection with the "Incheon i Bada Pass" policy, which reduces passenger ferry fares, the "Vivid City Administration Treasure Island Field Trip" to Yeonpyeongdo will be operated as a pilot program 10 times a year.
The Yeonpyeongdo program offers a one-day course that includes visits to the Security Education Center, Peace Park, Early History Museum, Sergeant Seo Jeongwoo Memorial Site, Peace Observatory, and the 7th Artillery Company, providing participants with vivid security education experiences.
This round of field trips focuses on effectively promoting the value and appeal of each region of Incheon through themes that highlight the unique characteristics of each area.
The Central Region (Jung, Dong, and Michuhol Districts) features the theme "Layers of Time: Incheon's Historical Trail," offering a time-travel course that connects the Museum of Korean Emigration History, the Open Port Culture Street, and Subong Park, tracing the footsteps of modern and contemporary Incheon.
The Southern Region (Yeonsu and Namdong Districts) is themed "Ecological Exploration in the City," providing a nature-friendly course that encompasses the Sorae History Museum, Sorae Wetland Ecological Park, and Incheon Grand Park. The Northern Region (Bupyeong, Gyeyang, and Seo Districts) is themed "Infinite Curiosity Track," presenting a children's experiential learning course that connects the Bupyeong Safety Experience Center, Children's Science Museum, and Gyulhyeon Vehicle Depot.
Participants can freely choose two to three destinations within their field trip region based on their interests, in addition to the suggested themed courses.
The Vivid City Administration Field Trip is open free of charge to anyone, including students in grade 4 and above, citizens, organizations, and even residents from other cities and provinces, as long as there are 20 or more participants. Applications can be submitted through the Incheon City website from 90 days to 10 days prior to the desired field trip date.
