Reduced Waiting Time for Check-in
and Lower Risk of Loss
Jin Air announced on May 28 that it has launched a service allowing passengers to store their mobile boarding passes in Apple Wallet.
Starting today, after completing check-in via the Jin Air website or mobile application, passengers can tap the "Add to Apple Wallet" button displayed on the screen to automatically save their mobile boarding pass to Apple Wallet. This service is available to any customer using a device that supports Apple Wallet, and it is recommended to update to the latest operating system (OS).
Prior to Apple Wallet, Jin Air introduced a Samsung Wallet boarding pass storage service in 2022. Using a mobile boarding pass reduces waiting time for check-in at the airport and allows passengers to select their seats in advance. Additionally, if travelers do not have checked baggage, they can proceed directly from security to the boarding gate, making the process more convenient. It also helps reduce paper usage. According to Jin Air, the usage rate of mobile boarding passes for international flights departing from Incheon increased from 44% in January 2023 to an average of 51% between January and April 2024.
For domestic flights, check-in is available from 24 hours up to 30 minutes before departure. For international flights, check-in is available from 24 hours up to 1 hour and 30 minutes before departure. International flights eligible for this service are those departing from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Hong Kong (excluding Guam and mainland China routes). Some passengers, such as those with one-way tickets or seats in the emergency exit row, may not be able to use mobile or web check-in.
A Jin Air representative stated, "Mobile boarding passes offer greater convenience and a lower risk of loss compared to paper boarding passes," adding, "We hope customers enjoy a smarter travel experience by utilizing Apple Wallet."
