Officials from Gyeongsangbuk-do and 22 cities and counties within the province gathered together for a meaningful discussion on the region's future development strategies.

On May 27, the "2nd Gyeongsangbuk-do Local Government Cooperation Meeting" was held at Gumi City Hall, where participants sought joint response measures for major current issues.

In particular, this meeting focused on discussions regarding the successful hosting and promotion of the "Gumi Asian Athletics Championships," which will be held in Gumi in 2025.

Before the meeting, a promotional video for the event was screened, heightening the atmosphere. It was emphasized that this event, which will bring together more than 2,000 athletes from 43 countries, will not only be a sports event but will also serve as an important opportunity to elevate Gumi's status and enhance the brand value of both Gyeongsangbuk-do and South Korea.

Gumi City expressed its ambition to prove its capability to host international events through the successful organization of this Asian athletics competition and to use this as a stepping stone to attract even larger-scale global events in the future.

To this end, the city plans to continuously expand and improve essential urban infrastructure such as airport accessibility, accommodation facilities, and stadiums, further establishing its identity as "Gumi, the City of Challenge and Growth."

This local government cooperation meeting served as an important platform for Gyeongsangbuk-do and its cities and counties to share regional issues and seek solutions together. Moving forward, they plan to lay the foundation for mutual growth through continued cooperation.
