It was confirmed on May 28 that Kim Taegyu, Vice Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, has expressed his intention to resign.
Vice Chairman Kim is reported to have recently submitted his resignation for personal reasons. It is understood that approval from Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister Lee Jooho, who also serves as Minister of Education, is still pending.
Kim, a former judge, previously served as Vice Chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission before being appointed as Vice Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission in July of last year. He also served as Acting Chairman of the Commission during the impeachment of Chairman Lee Jinsook.
If Vice Chairman Kim's resignation is accepted, the Korea Communications Commission will once again be led solely by Chairman Lee Jinsook, making it impossible to convene a full commission meeting.
