Fines for Passengers Who Stand Up Before the Seatbelt Sign Is Turned Off
The Turkish aviation authorities have decided to impose fines on passengers who stand up from their seats before the seatbelt sign is turned off immediately after the plane lands, in order to maintain order on board.
According to the New York Post on the 27th (local time), the Turkish Directorate General of Civil Aviation recently sent a notice to airlines stating that "passengers who rush into the aisle after landing may be fined up to $70 (about 96,000 won)." This measure is intended to prevent a rush of passengers immediately after landing and to maintain orderly disembarkation.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation stated, "Recently, there have been repeated incidents of passengers rushing into the aisle immediately after landing, raising safety concerns," and urged, "Please respect the disembarkation order of passengers in front of or around you and wait for your turn." The authority reportedly instructed crew members to report any passengers who violate these regulations.
According to the media, even standing in the aisle before it is your turn to disembark may result in a fine. In addition, actions such as unfastening the seatbelt while the plane is taxiing or opening the overhead compartment before the plane is parked are also specified as behaviors subject to fines. The aviation authority is also considering creating and managing a blacklist of unruly passengers who do not comply with airline regulations in the future.
