Jeollanam-do is conducting all-out promotional activities using various channels, such as solo picket promotions and campaigns, to encourage residents to participate in the 21st presidential election voting.
On the morning of the 28th, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Youngrok stood at the Suncheon Jorye Intersection holding a picket that read, "Voting is my power! Let's make sure to vote!" and called on residents to actively participate in the election.
Governor Kim emphasized, "Voting is the most precious right guaranteed by the Constitution and a responsibility of democratic citizens," and added, "Each and every vote of our residents will determine the direction of state affairs for the next five years and will shape our lives and the future of our children."
He continued, "Voting is my power, our hope, and the force of change," appealing for all residents to unite and create a wave of voter participation.
Governor Kim plans to continue solo picket promotions encouraging voter participation during the morning commute in front of the provincial government building, at Mokpo Mannamui Pokpo Intersection, Naju Innovation City, and other locations until the voting day on June 3.
Additionally, Jeollanam-do is encouraging voter participation through various channels, including installing banners of various sizes at multi-use facilities and public institutions, running a campaign to change social network service (SNS) profile pictures on platforms such as KakaoTalk, broadcasting advertisements, and distributing leaflets and posters.
On this day, about 40 public officials, including Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs Myung Changhwan, also participated in a campaign to encourage voting by wearing hand-held pickets and sashes and appealing to employees on their way to work.
In cooperation with the Jeollanam-do Office of Education, the province also plans to provide voter education for first-time voters who are high school students, as well as to allow students to go out on voting day and operate half-day classes.
The province also plans to expand the atmosphere of voter participation among residents until election day through text message notifications, village broadcasts, and street broadcasts in each town and township.
Meanwhile, the total number of eligible voters in Jeollanam-do is 1,558,464. Early voting will take place on the 29th and 30th from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 298 polling stations in the province, and the main voting will be held on June 3 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 806 polling stations.
