Pusan National University College of Nursing Holds 70th Anniversary International Conference... Highlights the Future Value of Nursing

Laying the Foundation for International Collaborative Research and Multidisciplinary Cooperation
to Advance Nursing Science and Practice

The College of Nursing at Pusan National University (Dean: Jung Insook) held the "70th Anniversary International Academic Conference of the College of Nursing" on May 22 at the main auditorium of the Yangsan Campus.

This academic conference was organized by the Nursing Science Research Institute (Director: Son Hyunmi) and attended by more than 200 participants, including domestic and international nursing researchers, clinical experts, and graduate students, who explored the future direction of nursing science.


The conference was held under the theme "Navigating Nursing: Digital and Global Frontiers in Healthcare," providing a venue to discuss the strategic value and challenges of nursing science and practice in the rapidly changing healthcare environment.


For the keynote lecture, Professor Hugh Patrick McKenna of Ulster University in the United Kingdom, who is among the top 2% of scientists worldwide, presented on "Research Impact: Reflections of the Past and Visions of the Future," proposing directions for the development of nursing research and ways to enhance its social utility.


In the following plenary session, Professor Park Najin of the University of Pittsburgh spoke about the values pursued in nursing research and education; Professor Hong Hyejeong of the University of Pennsylvania discussed the challenges and opportunities of translational research; and Advanced Practice Nurse Park Sumi of Kaiser Permanente Medical Center presented on strengthening professionalism in nursing practice.


Additionally, Professor Park Jongmin of Pusan National University's Department of Nursing led a symposium titled "Expanding Horizons: Early Career Experiences in Securing Research Funding and Global Collaboration," proposing successful strategies for global research cooperation and drawing significant interest from attendees.


A representative from Pusan National University College of Nursing stated, "This academic conference, held to mark the 70th anniversary of the college's founding, was a meaningful event to explore the future direction of nursing science and practice," adding, "It is also significant in that it expanded the foundation for exchange and cooperation among researchers, educators, and practitioners both domestically and internationally."
