The Chungnam Provincial Special Judicial Police Team for Civil Affairs announced on May 28 that it had uncovered 12 illegal activities during a focused crackdown on livestock product handling businesses conducted from April 7 to May 9.

This inspection targeted approximately 500 establishments, including large supermarkets, within the province.

The violations included: one case of false labeling of some meat information, one case of failure to operate an internal hygiene management standard, one case of failure to indicate the country of origin, two cases of failure to conduct health examinations, and seven cases of mismatched individual identification numbers.

The businesses caught will be subject to administrative measures such as business suspension and fines in accordance with relevant regulations, including the Livestock Products Sanitary Control Act and the Act on the Traceability of Livestock and Livestock Products.

Jung Nakdo, Director of Safety Planning for the province, stated, "We will continue to promote the labeling of country of origin and identification numbers and conduct hygiene inspections to enhance trust in livestock products. We are committed to preemptively blocking factors that threaten residents' health and to creating a safe distribution environment for livestock products."
