Democratic Party Releases Presidential Election Policy Book with 247 Detailed Pledges

Presenting Three Major Visions: Recovery, Growth, and Happiness

The Democratic Party of Korea has released its policy pledge book for the 21st presidential election, which contains 247 detailed pledges.

On May 28, the Democratic Party announced the publication of its presidential election pledge book, which includes three major visions, 15 key policy tasks, and 247 detailed pledges.

The Democratic Party presented recovery, growth, and happiness as its three major visions, and further subdivided its pledges around these themes. The 'recovery' section includes pledges on overcoming internal crises, restoring democracy, economic security and peace on the Korean Peninsula, as well as public safety and disaster response.

The 'growth' section includes pledges focused on fostering new industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), building growth foundations, promoting a fair economy, achieving balanced regional development, and responding to the climate crisis.

The 'happiness' section presents pledges on stabilizing daily life, reducing living expenses, easing the burdens and boosting the vitality of households and small business owners, respecting labor and guaranteeing labor rights, responding to low birth rates and an aging population, providing care for elementary students and seniors, and resolving the healthcare crisis and advancing healthcare reform.

Tailored pledges for specific groups are also presented. These include support measures for children and adolescents, youth, middle-aged and seniors, women, people with disabilities, workers, small business owners and self-employed individuals, small and venture businesses, farmers and fishermen, family caregivers, those affected by low birth rates, and pet owners.

The Democratic Party stated, "This pledge book contains the Democratic Party's 'true growth strategy' for building five major powers in the areas of economy, diplomacy, security, culture, democracy, and welfare," adding, "'True growth' refers to sustainable growth that upgrades growth potential based on structural reform and innovation."

The party went on to say, "We will foster strategic industries leading the future from A to F, realize technology-driven growth, and achieve growth for all in which everyone participates and coexists. With this strategy, we will achieve 'AI Top 3 Global Power, 3% Potential Growth Rate, and Top 5 National Power,' ushering in a new era of economic leap forward."
