Changwon Country Club in Gyeongnam appointed Kim Taehyun as its new CEO following a regular general shareholders' meeting.
Previously, there were two candidates running for the position, but after one candidate withdrew midway, Kim Taehyun was ultimately appointed.
During the shareholders' meeting, out of 1,451 shareholder members, 1,161 cast their votes in advance, 33 sent in proxies, and 6 participated in person at the meeting on the 26th. With a total of 1,200 votes, Kim Taehyun was finally appointed as the new CEO. In addition, a new board of directors consisting of 10 directors and 2 auditors was also formed.
Originally, a new CEO should have been appointed at the regular shareholders' meeting on March 31, when the previous CEO's term ended. However, due to conflicts between the previous board of directors and the former CEO, the formation of the election management committee was delayed. As a result, the final appointment took place at the regular shareholders' meeting on the 26th of this month, with candidates limited to the number of directors and auditors required.
Kim Taehyun, the new CEO, has previously served as Vice President of the Gyeongnam Golf Association and has been crowned club champion at Donghun Hillmaru, Lake Hills, and Bugok Country Club.
He is also a golf enthusiast who won the 4th MBC Gyeongnam Amateur Golf Championship in 2020.
In addition, he is a successful entrepreneur who operates several companies, including Brown Dot Hotel (Masan Yangdeok branch), Haman Jawon, Hwanam Industry, and Hyupsin Steel.
In his inaugural address, Kim declared, "I will relinquish vested interests and will never seek anything beyond the powers defined for the CEO in the company regulations."
He continued, "I will establish a system in which all 1,451 shareholder members receive equal treatment and exercise equal rights," adding, "I will set up a members' grievance board to always listen to your voices."
He also stated, "I will devise various measures, including expanding support for member fellowship gatherings, so that the company's profits can benefit all members."
He placed particular emphasis on transparent management. He said, "I will innovate the booking system to ensure transparent and fair reservations," and added, "I will regularly report the club's operational status to all members."
Furthermore, he pledged, "I will transparently disclose income and expenditure details to build trust," and proposed, "I will establish a system that enables members and management to communicate at any time, so that members can always ask questions and verify information."
He also stated his ambition to make Changwon Country Club one of Korea's most prestigious golf courses.
Emphasizing that the most important factor in elevating Changwon Country Club to a prestigious status is maintaining the course in top condition, he said, "I will spare no expense in managing the tee boxes, fairways, and greens to raise the stature of Changwon Country Club." Along with his inaugural address, he added, "I will revitalize member-friendly golf tournaments to further boost your pride," and pledged, "During my term, I will raise the value of Changwon Country Club memberships to the level of prestigious clubs in the Seoul metropolitan area."
Kim Taehyun, the new CEO, promised members, "For over 30 years, I have managed businesses, always overcoming crises and growing companies through challenge and innovation, uniting employees through harmony and trust." He added, "I will dedicate all of my 30-plus years of business management experience to Changwon Country Club and lead it to become the top prestigious club."
