[Market Focus] Solus Advanced Materials Rises on Inclusion in Value-Up Index, OLED Material Mass Production News

As of 10:00 a.m. on May 28, Solus Advanced Materials shares were trading at 7,840 won on the Korea Exchange, up 7.69% from the previous day's closing price. This appears to be due to the announcement that the company was newly included in the Korea Exchange Value-Up Index the previous day, as well as the announcement on this day regarding the mass production of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials.

Solus Advanced Materials operates in three business segments: battery foil, OLED, and advanced materials. Based on last year's figures, the revenue breakdown was 77.9% from battery foil, 20.5% from OLED, and 4.4% from advanced materials.

The previous day, the Korea Exchange announced the rebalancing constituents of the 'Korea Value-Up Index' to mark the first anniversary of its corporate value enhancement (Value-Up) program, and Solus Advanced Materials was newly included. As of May 27, the Value-Up Index had risen 6.93% to 1,060.92 compared to September 30 of the previous year, when the index was first announced. In contrast, the KOSPI 200 rose only 1.89% during the same period.

Meanwhile, on May 28, Solus Advanced Materials announced that it had received customer approval for the green phosphorescent host (ph. Green Host), a key material that emits green light in the OLED emission layer, and would begin mass production. The green phosphorescent material to be mass-produced will first be applied to TV displays. The company added that it is also conducting performance tests with various customers to expand applications to devices such as mobile products.

The nearly 7% surge in Tesla's stock price in the United States the previous day also appears to have contributed to the rise in Solus Advanced Materials' share price. Solus Advanced Materials produces battery foil, a core material for electric vehicle batteries that is essential for improving driving range and increasing energy density. The company's plant in Hungary is the only battery foil production base in Europe, supplying high-quality battery foil to local customers. In Quebec, Canada, the company is building North America's first battery foil plant to meet the region's growing demand.
