The Daejeon city government announced on May 27 that it has opened a "Medical Tourism Overseas Hub Center" in Manila, Philippines.

The center will serve several functions, including promoting Daejeon's medical services, attracting and consulting medical tourists, establishing cooperative networks with local agencies, and providing post-treatment support.

Following the opening ceremony, the "Daejeon Medical Tourism Promotion Seminar" was held on May 28, attended by over 100 local medical institutions and travel and tourism industry representatives. Daejeon's key partner institutions, Barun Saenggak Hospital and Philhanbang Hospital, introduced specialized programs aimed at attracting patients.

The city plans to use the opening of the overseas hub center as an opportunity to discover new medical tourism demand in countries such as Japan and Vietnam, in addition to its existing core markets, by working with partner organizations. The city also aims to diversify the channels for attracting foreign patients.

Jung Taeyoung, Director of Sports and Health at Daejeon City, stated, "The opening of the overseas hub center marks the beginning of actively promoting Daejeon's medical competitiveness in the Southeast Asian market. We expect this will have a positive impact on the local economy through sustainable international medical cooperation and the attraction of foreign patients."
