Jung-gu Seoul Wins 'Local Government AI Innovation Award' with 'AINaepyeonJunggu'

First Nationwide Praise for AI-Based Intelligent Integrated Platform

On May 28, Jung-gu, Seoul announced that it had received the Minister of Science and ICT Award, the grand prize at the '1st Local Government AI Innovation Awards,' for its AI-based intelligent integrated platform 'AINaepyeonJunggu,' which was introduced for the first time nationwide.

Jung-gu Seoul Wins 'Local Government AI Innovation Award' with 'AINaepyeonJunggu' Kim Gilsung, Mayor of Junggu, who received the 'Local Government AI Innovation Award' (fifth from the left), and staff members. Provided by Junggu.

Previously, the district had won the Minister's Award at the 'Korea Knowledge Awards' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last year. With this latest recognition, Jung-gu has further solidified its position as a leading local government in AI-powered administration.

AINaepyeonJunggu is a platform that integrates scattered administrative services into a single system and provides customized information based on artificial intelligence. After a pilot operation last year, it has been in service since May of the same year. Its key feature is that it helps users find tailored information intelligently, even if they do not know the exact service name, ensuring that no information is omitted when provided.

In addition, the platform offers a one-stop service that allows residents to apply for program participation directly, greatly enhancing convenience. This is why participants in community center programs, which previously only accepted in-person applications, especially welcome AINaepyeonJunggu.

Last year, the district was selected for the 'Public Institution Large-Scale AI Adoption Contest' organized by the National Information Society Agency, and carried out a proof-of-concept (POC) project with Naver Cloud to verify intelligent AI voice chatbot technology for digitally vulnerable groups. This is a more advanced AI technology that allows residents who are not adept at text searches to find information using only their voice.

This year, the district is also challenging the 'Testbed Seoul Demonstration Project Contest' to introduce a chatbot that supports not only voice and text but also multiple languages. If selected, the chatbot will be implemented not only in AINaepyeonJunggu but also on the Jung-gu official website.

Alongside these efforts, Jung-gu is pursuing AI administrative service innovation from multiple angles, such as actively utilizing the real estate civil complaint AI chatbot 'Buuungi' and applying RPA (Robotic Process Automation) to internal administrative tasks.

Kim Gilsung, Mayor of Jung-gu, stated, "This award is especially meaningful as it recognizes our efforts to dramatically enhance resident convenience and information accessibility through cutting-edge digital technology," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that 'AINaepyeonJunggu,' your always reliable partner, truly empowers the lives of our residents."

Meanwhile, the 'Local Government AI Innovation Awards' were newly established this year to evaluate local governments' AI-based policies and administrative innovation cases, and to promote AI infrastructure, business support, and startup facilitation tailored to regional characteristics. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Korea Association of Mayors, Governors, and District Heads are among the sponsors.

As this is the inaugural year, many local governments applied, and 12 were selected as awardees across four categories: social safety, care and welfare, public administration, and economic and cultural affairs. Among them, Jung-gu in Seoul and Suncheon City received the grand prize in the basic local government category, while Jeju Province and Gyeonggi Province received the grand prize in the metropolitan local government category. The awards ceremony was held on May 26 at the Korea Press Center.
