Seongdong-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Wonoh) will hold the '9th Seongdong-gu Residents' Unity Walking Festival' on June 1.
Hosted by the Seongdong-gu Sports Council and organized by the Seongdong-gu Walking Association, this walking event will start at 9:00 a.m. from Salgotyi Sports Park. Participants will follow a walking course that passes the shelter under Eungbonggyo Bridge and ends at the Seoul Forest outdoor stage, taking approximately one hour and thirty minutes to complete.
The event is designed to promote physical fitness and foster community spirit. Any resident of Seongdong-gu can join and enjoy the walk together, and approximately 3,000 residents are expected to participate.
On the day of the event, on-site registration will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. Following registration, there will be warm-up exercises and an opening ceremony to officially start the event.
The opening ceremony will include a welcoming address and a course introduction. After the main walking event, a second part will be held at the Seoul Forest outdoor stage, featuring a prize draw. However, the event may be postponed in case of rain.
To prevent accidents during the event, ambulances and medical staff will be on site, and safety personnel will be intensively deployed around the venue and at hazardous sections along the walking route. The use of public transportation is recommended to ensure smooth event operations.
Jeong Wonoh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "On the first day of June, marking the beginning of early summer, I hope residents can walk together, take care of their health, and enjoy a time of unity. We will continue to promote daily walking to improve residents' fitness and will spare no effort or support to further vitalize community sports in all aspects of life."
