Authenticity, Educational Value, Exhibition and Preservation Needs, and Academic Significance of Donated Artifacts
Hapcheon Museum in Hapcheon County, Gyeongnam announced on the 28th that it had convened an Artifact Evaluation Committee, composed of experts in relevant fields, to review artifacts submitted for donation in 2025.
During this committee meeting, 424 items across 225 donation applications were evaluated, focusing on authenticity, the necessity for education, exhibition, and preservation, as well as academic value. Of these, 323 items from 124 applications were determined to be valuable for research on the local history of Hapcheon and were approved for acquisition.
The donors include 152 items from the Goryeong Park Clan Byuk Hanjeong Family Association, 35 items from Okgye Jeonggye, 10 items from Kim Jongtak, 15 items from Kim Yonggyeong, and 111 items from Park Gon, among others.
Through this review, numerous artifacts were identified that provide insight into the lives of people in the Hapcheon area at the time, including earthenware from the Three Kingdoms period, the Hyangan and Yeongmorok of Okgye Jeonggye organized in the 17th century in the Bongsan-myeon area of Hapcheon, wooden printing blocks for the Mumin Dangjip, household registers from Isayeokjuchon in Gunseo-myeon, and genealogical records of the Goryeong Park Clan.
A museum official stated, "We expect that the artifacts approved for acquisition will be useful for research and preservation of Hapcheon's history," adding, "We will establish preservation and management plans to ensure the professional care of these artifacts and prepare various utilization strategies to broaden cultural opportunities for local residents."
