3rd Presidential Debate Opening Remarks
Lee: "Red Yoon Sukyeol Cannot Be Replaced by Blue Yoon Sukyeol"
On May 27, Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, appealed for support by stating, "This election is about driving out both the 'irrational forces' that defend martial law and the 'anti-principle forces' that tempt with populism, and restoring principles and common sense."
During his opening remarks at the third televised debate for the 21st presidential election, which focused on political issues that evening, Lee declared, "I, Lee Junseok, will achieve political reform, generational change, and a shift in the times all at once."
Lee first stated, "On the night of December 3 last year, democracy collapsed. The Constitution was trampled under the name of martial law," and criticized Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, by adding, "As the party that has nominated a candidate this time while ignoring responsibility, the people are asking, 'Is this truly common sense?'"
He continued, "We tell our children, 'Don't follow someone just because they offer you candy.' But now, is it right to follow a candidate who promises to do everything without any plan for the national finances? We cannot hand down a nation without principles to our children," targeting Lee Jaemyung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.
Lee especially emphasized, "We cannot replace the 'Red Yoon Sukyeol' with a 'Blue Yoon Sukyeol' in the same place. The full moon is setting, and the crescent moon is rising. Entrust the future of Korea to a new beginning like the crescent moon."
