The KOSPI closed slightly lower due to simultaneous net selling by both foreign investors and institutions.
On May 27, the KOSPI ended trading at 2,637.22, down 7.18 points (0.27%) from the previous session.
By investor type, foreign investors and institutions recorded net sales of 75.8 billion won and 19.7 billion won, respectively. In contrast, individual investors posted net purchases of 53.5 billion won.
By sector, electricity·gas fell by 2.82%, while insurance, securities, electrical·electronics, metals, and transportation·storage each declined by more than 1%. On the other hand, medical·precision rose by 3.44%, and construction was up by 2.19%.
Among major stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electronics closed at 53,900 won, down 800 won (1.46%) from the previous session. NAVER dropped by 2.23%, while Samsung Biologics, LG Energy Solution, and Samsung C&T each fell by more than 1%.
Conversely, Hanwha Aerospace rose by 6.48%, while Doosan Enerbility and Celltrion gained 2.05% and 1.70%, respectively.
On the KOSPI, a total of 361 stocks rose, including JS Corporation, which hit the upper price limit. Without any stocks hitting the lower limit, 517 stocks declined, while 58 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 727.11, up 1.84 points (0.25%) from the previous session.
By investor type, individuals and foreign investors recorded net purchases of 21.4 billion won and 1.4 billion won, respectively. In contrast, institutions posted net sales of 12.6 billion won.
By sector, general services rose by 2.46%, while pharmaceuticals and metals each climbed by more than 1%. On the other hand, electrical·electronics fell by 1.05%.
Among major stocks by market capitalization, Alteogen closed at 344,000 won, up 12,500 won (3.77%) from the previous session. ABL Bio surged by 22.55%, and Kolon TissueGene also jumped by 10.60%. In addition, Ligachem Bio rose by 4.22%.
Conversely, EcoPro BM fell by 5.03%, while EcoPro and Leeno Industrial declined by 2.91% and 1.72%, respectively.
On the KOSDAQ market, a total of 607 stocks rose, including five stocks such as Cellid, RANIX, and Plutus that hit the upper price limit. Without any stocks hitting the lower limit, 1,007 stocks declined, while 108 stocks remained unchanged.
