On May 27, Gyeonggi Province conducted a food poisoning drill at Chuhyeon Elementary School in Gwangmyeong City in cooperation with related organizations, including the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.
The drill simulated a scenario in which a mass food poisoning outbreak occurred at Chuhyeon Elementary School and the Gwangmyeong City Public Health Center due to kimchi from the same product. Related organizations, including Gyeonggi Province, the Provincial Office of Education, Gwangmyeong City, Chuhyeon Elementary School, and the Gwangmyeong Office of Education, participated in the drill.
The drill was conducted in the following order: recognition of the food poisoning outbreak, reporting of the outbreak, cause and epidemiological investigation, post-investigation measures, and monitoring.
Won Gongshik, Director of the Food Safety Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Through this drill, we have once again reorganized our response system and plan to reflect any improvements in the manual. We expect this will enable a swift response and early containment in the event of a large-scale food poisoning outbreak."
