Songpa District in Seoul (District Mayor Seo Kangseok) announced that it will hold the '10th Songpa Children and Youth Festival' at Seoul Nori Madang on May 31.
This year's festival, held in celebration of Youth Month in May under the theme 'Children and Youth Who Challenge, Achieve, and Grow,' aims to support the passion and potential of young people as they move boldly toward the future. A variety of programs have been prepared, including a pre-ceremony performance, family participation programs, a commemorative ceremony, celebratory performances, and experience booths.
The festival will take place on the last Saturday of May at Seoul Nori Madang, the city's only traditional outdoor theater, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The festivities will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with a lively celebratory performance by the youth performance group 'Ttudakgaebi.' This will be followed by 'Challenge Your Knowledge!,' a quiz competition where young people can test their general knowledge, and the 'Family Challenge,' featuring games such as toss ball, color sudoku, and time-matching, in which family members can participate together.
At 1:00 p.m., the commemorative ceremony will honor 19 exemplary youth and youth leaders who have taken the lead in volunteer work, good deeds, and cooperation. Afterward, children from the Songpa Kiwoom Center and youth from the Youth Center will join together in a performance of the national anthem to celebrate Youth Month.
From 2:00 p.m., the highlight of the festival, the 'Children and Youth Cultural Performance,' will take place. Children and youth will take center stage, showcasing their talents and creativity through a variety of performances, including dance, Nanta (a Korean percussion performance), and cheerleading. The excitement will continue with a spectacular celebratory performance by the popular dance team 1MILLION.
In addition, 14 experience booths will be set up throughout the venue. Activities include making pouch keyrings, decorating personalized fans, creating miniatures of oneself ten years in the future, experiencing traditional games from Songpa District's sister cities such as Germany, the United States, and Japan through the 'Songpa District International Sister City Journey,' and a youth and family flea market.
Seo Kangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, stated, "We have prepared this festival as a place where our children and youth can directly participate and enjoy the joy of challenge and achievement. I hope this will be a time for families and friends to create precious memories together," adding, "We will continue to take an active lead in making Songpa a place where children and youth can grow up happily."
