June 2 to 30:
Fourteen Paintings from Eastern and Western Traditions
Sunchang County's Seomjingang Art Museum in North Jeolla Province will hold the collection exhibition 'The World Painted with Water; Spreading, Soaking, Lingering' from June 2 to June 30.
According to the Seomjingang Art Museum on May 27, this exhibition will feature 14 paintings from both Eastern and Western traditions, using 'water' as a medium, including ink wash, watercolor, and light color techniques. The exhibition consists of works that express human thought and emotion through the flow and sensibility of water.

The exhibition title, 'Spreading, Soaking, Lingering,' focuses on the sensations and traces left where water touches, and is designed to allow visitors to directly experience how the materiality of painting can convey emotions.
The exhibited works include many pieces from the museum's collection, such as Korean paintings and watercolors. Notable examples include 'Always There' by Yeo Insul (2015), which captures the atmosphere of Janggunmok, and 'One Day ~ The Landscape Comes' by Kim Youngsook (2015), which sensuously expresses the flow of nature. For more information, inquiries can be made to the Sunchang Public Seomjingang Art Museum.
A representative of the Seomjingang Art Museum stated, "This exhibition explores how the emptiness of ink wash, the transparency of watercolor, and the diffusion of light color can blend Eastern and Western expressions into a single sensibility," and added, "We hope that, like the gentle and profound waves of the Seomjingang River, visitors will find their hearts lingering for a moment with these quietly resonant works."
