This evaluation was conducted by the Korea Forest Service for metropolitan and special self-governing provinces, comprehensively assessing all aspects of forest administration, including the creation of forest resources such as afforestation and forest management, the establishment of systems to prevent and respond to landslides, achievements in wildfire prevention, the rate of pest and disease control, the promotion of timber utilization, and the performance rate of forest road facilities.

In this evaluation, the province was selected as an excellent institution in the 'province' category, marking its third consecutive year of recognition following the top award in 2023. As a result, it will receive a commendation from the head of the Korea Forest Service and a reward of 10 million won.

This achievement is attributed to the province's efforts to regularly monitor performance and conduct on-site inspections to achieve project-specific goals, as well as to its proactive incentive policies, such as awarding prize money and the governor's commendation to outstanding cities and counties based on its own evaluations in the fields of wildfire prevention and forest management.

Hwang Sangkuk, Director of Forest Resources at Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, stated, "This award is the result of all our staff working together to implement forest policies and doing their utmost to protect the lives and property of residents." He added, "We will continue to pursue forest policies that allow nature and people to coexist harmoniously, thereby contributing to the improvement of residents' quality of life."
